To some extent this book resembles an earlier anthology of my work entitled ‘Gain of Function’, with its reliance on new poetry, some of it first published on the internet. Yet it also has a strong relationship to my previous volume called ‘Summer With The Gods’ – where this new book asks for ‘Louder Prayers’ combined with a further search around the edges – those still unexplored areas not quite touched on before. It is certainly a further development of my writing style, and although its physical presentation is designed to give the feel of a prayer book, it is an honest proposition and not in any way disrespectful, sarcastic or facetious.


I have tried to make this book as readable as possible and to this end there are no overly long poems. It is constructed in five parts – in the hope that these considerations will make the reader more able to follow the thread of poems in the order they are placed, which has some value regarding the way I construct my anthologies in all their disciplines myself, believing that to be an important part of their final creative presentation. It also provides some interpolation between the various poems, and in some cases helps them lend support to each other. Once again, in accordance with my investigation of style, it is a book that takes my poetry to new levels and is a reading of souls; an observation of ambition; a release approximating that of mercy; a desire for philosophical communion – but not least, it is a true entertainment made of thoughts, feelings, experiences and words.
